چکیده

A composting experiment was carried out to assess the best parameters as indicators for degree of compost maturity and to determine humification indices for practical use. The effect of humic acids extracted on soil microorganisms growth was also simultaneously investigated in vitro under axenic conditions. The parameters used were oxidizable carbon (Co), alkaline-extractable carbon (Cex), humic and fulvic-like carbon (Cha, Cfa), humification ratio (HR), humification index (HI), percent humic acid (Pha) and Cha/Cfa ratio. Results indicated that HR, HI, Pha and Cha/Cfa ratio could be used to describe the evolution of organic matter during the composting of horticultural residues as well as the humification degree of compost. Our microorganism incubation study showed that the addition of humates from lignocellulosic waste based compost at 1, 5 and 10% to the culturing medium enhanced bacterial growth while the above effect was not clearly observed when this product was added to fungi and actinomycetes. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The effect of two humic substances on the growth and lead Uptake of corn in calcareous soil

ABSTRACT- In the past few decades, accumulation of heavy metals, such as lead (Pb), in soils has increased as a result of human activities. The environmental hazard associated with soil enrichment in heavy metals is related to their mobility and plant availability. Application of various materials such as humic may influence the amount of Pb taken up by plant. Four levels of each of liquid and s...

Humic acid formation in artificial soils amended with compost at different stages of organic matter evolution.

A composting process was conducted under optimal conditions for 150 d, obtaining three biomasses at different levels of maturity: raw material (RM), fresh compost obtained after 11 d of composting (FC), and evolved compost (EC) obtained after 150 d of composting. During the composting process, HAs were extracted and fully characterized by mass balance, DRIFT, and 1H and 13C-nuclear magnetic res...

Microbial succession associated with organic matter decomposition during thermophilic composting of organic waste.

Using dog food as a model of the organic waste, thermophilic composting was carried out for 14 days at a fixed temperature of 60 degrees C. The relationship between organic matter decomposition measured by CO2 evolution during the bio-stabilization process and microbial succession expressed as the changes over time in the restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) patterns of 16S rDNA sequ...

Evaluation of different growth media for tomato seedlings to optimize production and water use

ABSTRACT- Soilless cultivation systems are used to attain higher performance, improve crop quality, conserve water and land, and protect the environment better. This study has attempted to use some agricultural wastes and organic matter, and management practices to optimize water holding capacity of cultural media, which are suitable for the growth of tomato seedlings (Solanum lycopersicum.). Influence of Input Materials and Composting Operation on Humification of Organic Matter

Composts play an important role in the context of resource recovery and soil improvement by increasing soil organic matter. This study focuses on compost quality in terms of humic acid (HA) content which due to its favorable properties provides benefits for soils and plants. A series of Austrian and foreign composts (174 samples) were investigated to find out the level of HAs built up during co...
